Monkey Mind Blues
"Do not be a prisoner of your own thoughts. Remember, you have the power to choose which thoughts to dwell on." – Dalai Lama
Human Condition,
First seven years,
Absorbing everything,
Eyes and ears.
-
A.I. human edition,
Learning from Mom,
Watching Dad,
Or maybe just on an iPad.
-
Having no filter,
Or ability to judge,
Drawing conclusions,
Without even a nudge.
-
Infant trauma,
Childhood drama,
Layering stories upon events,
So many fragmented memories.
-
Foundations of sand,
Building skyscrapers and one’s brand,
So shiny and grand,
Bound not to last.
-
Mind’s algorithm running,
As it’s designed to do,
80,000 thoughts a day,
And nothing new.
-
Believing its me,
It’s impossible to see,
My true life’s purpose,
What I am supposed to be.
-
Finding out there’s more,
Deep down inside,
That’s where true Self,
Actually resides.
-
Connecting with all
Realizing we are one,
Discovering the fun,
Not being under the gun.
-
Peace and love,
Contemplative stance,
Frequent meditation,
Makes life a beautiful dance.
-
Stitching together the clues,
In forgiveness and gratitude,
I no longer have those,
Monkey Mind Blues.
I don't love the monkey mind but I do love me some
Monkey Mind Blues.
